Celebrating Eritrean Heritage in Vancouver
The Eritrean Cultural Center of Metro Vancouver (ECCMV), established in 1986, stands as a cornerstone of the Eritrean-Canadian community, serving approximately 3,000 members in British Columbia. Founded before Eritrea's independence, we continue our legacy of preserving and celebrating our rich cultural heritage while fostering integration within Canadian society.
Our Center offers:
• Cultural Programs: Traditional arts, skills preservation, and celebrations that maintain strong links with our Eritrean heritage
• Educational Initiatives: Bilingual programs in Tigrinya and English, youth cultural education, and workshops for newcomers
• Community Engagement: Social gatherings, sports activities, and multicultural events that promote friendship and unity
• Resource Hub: Settlement assistance, government service support, and guidance for newcomers
• Heritage Preservation: Documentation of traditions, cultural workshops, and inter-generational knowledge sharing
Through both in-person and digital platforms, we create inclusive spaces where Eritrean-Canadians can thrive while maintaining their cultural identity. Whether you're a newcomer, a long-time community member, or interested in exploring Eritrean culture, our doors are open to all who share our vision of cultural preservation and community building.
Together, we're strengthening the bonds between our two homelands, fostering understanding, and ensuring our rich Eritrean legacy continues to flourish in Greater Vancouver for generations to come.
